Day in the Life, May 1, 2013

I've decided to take the plunge and host a monthly Day in the Life link-up, so if you're here to participate, welcome! I'm super excited and a bit nervous to try this out and I really hope it goes well. If you're here, then you probably already know how this whole Day in the Life thing works, but if not, here's the basic run down: take a picture every hour for one whole day, either 12 or 24 hours (except when you're sleeping, of course), write your post, and link-up to your post.

I'm also participating in the Blog Every Day in May challenge.  Today's topic was supposed to be Spring is Here, but coincidentally, tomorrow's topic is Day in the Life, so I'm swapping them.  If you're here from the challenge, feel free to link up your Day in the Life posts (even if they aren't photo an hour posts).  I'll leave the link-up open for a week.

This is my fourth month to do a photo an hour, and I have to say it's quite addicting.  I take all the pictures with my iPhone on Instagram, and, yes, my profile is still private, so you have to request to follow me.  My days aren't spectacular, but I like having a record of what day to day life is like. I have plenty of pictures of vacations and special occasions, but there never seem to be any of what my life is actually like.

Yesterday was a work day for me.  All my previous Day in the Life posts happened on off days, so it's nice to document what a working day is like.  And yesterday was one of the longest days I've had since Jack was born; it was a tiring day.  It was also the most difficult to document since I was at work all day long, and it's not easy to squeeze interesting pictures in between working on clients.  Working moms, I don't know how you do it; leaving Jack is the hardest thing I do, and it usually involves tears at some point in the day.  Usually from me.

I don't know what's up with the face I'm making
we are now officially out past Jack's bedtime

10 pm

11 pm

12 am

I am now officially up way past my bedtime

1 am
tomorrow is going to hurt

Finally, I went to bed, and Jack slept through the night.  I didn't get a pic of his 6 am feeding, I was just too tired to grab my phone.  I got up at 7 and he was still asleep.  Thankfully.  I'm off today (and for the next week), and am going to rest and visit my mom in Louisiana so she can spend some time with Jack.  I see a nap in my future.

7 am
I love waking up to this mug

*I didn't actually take any photos while in session with my clients.  That would be weird.  And rude.  And creepy.  These are approximations of where I was in my therapy room when the clock struck the hour.

Day in the Life

Blog Every Day in May badge

  1. Oh my goodness. What a long, long day. How often do you have to do that a week? When do you take time to recharge? I could see that schedule wearing very thin, very quickly.

    1. My days aren't normally anywhere near that busy now that I have Jack. Before the baby, well, that's pretty much what every day looked like, minus having to drop him off and pick him up. Yesterday was my husband's best friend's birthday, so they celebrated and I took charge with the baby; normally my husband picks him up and I'm able to get home around 8:30. (I also just updated the post with the last 7 am picture and included a little more explanation). Now I can get down to exploring the other blogs from the Blog Every Day in May challenge! :)

  2. Goodness!!! You've got some seriously busy days!

  3. Pretty awesome. I liked your pictures. I'm going to have to get my butt in gear and do this.

  4. That is a loooooong day! I saw that you were doing this and I took about 12 pictures but they are seriously so boring. No one cares that I had m&ms at 2pm and watched Wheel of Fortune when I got home. You have all kinds of cool places to photograph!

    1. I'd love to see your pictures! M&M's and Wheel of Fortune aren't any more boring than the same picture of my massage therapy room over and over again.
