We Passed Inspection

This is just going to be another quick post today.  I spent all day driving back from visiting my Mom all week and I am super tired, but I don't want to miss a single day of the Blog Every Day in May challenge.

Today's prompt is first job, but since I talked about some of the jobs I've had in my 5 Lines post, I want to share the good news that all work is completed and we have officially passed our final home inspection for our 203K rehab loan!!!  That means we can finally start some of the many other projects we want to do around here.  Dennis wants us to have the house put together enough to have a housewarming party on or around the year anniversary of buying the house.  That means we have 2 months to seriously get a TON of stuff done.

Off the top of my head and in no particular order this is what we need to do:

  • unpack all the boxes we can
  • move the boxes that can't be unpacked yet into storage
  • make garage doors (so we can store the boxes)
  • purchase and install the remaining kitchen cabinets
  • paint the kitchen cabinets (maybe)
  • get rid of the pantry fridge
  • reclaim the dining room (Dennis is storing all his tools in the dining room until he can use the garage)
  • set up dining table and chairs
  • stencil the living room walls and paint the entryway
  • decorate the living room
  • hang the picture in the master bedroom
  • decorate bedroom
  • get new blinds for the windows
  • do something with the guest bedroom/craft room (maybe?)
  • hang art (maybe?)
I'm sure there are things I'm leaving off this list and there are things on here that won't get done despite our best efforts, but we're going to do our best to get this house guest ready by July!  We have a lot of work ahead of us.  This is what the dining room looks like right now:

Oy vey!

We definitely have our work cut out for us, but it's nice to have reached the first set of goals for the house.  I know I'm ready to start working on other projects and see this place start to come together more.  I'm excited to get to work!!!

  1. Is that your house in the first pic? It's so gorgeous!

    1. Thanks! It sure is ours. I edited the photo a little to bring out the color; we decided to paint the trim purple and teal. I think it goes nicely with the yellow brick. It's actually a duplex. We own the whole thing, but only live downstairs. We have renters upstairs.
