Operation Wear My Closet: Be My Valentine

I'm still on my mission to shop my own closet for cute outfits instead of going out and buying something new.  I have too many clothes and not enough money to add new pieces to my wardrobe so I'm trying to wear my closet (or at least what I have in my closet - actually wearing my closet would be weird - I bet Lady Gaga could literally wear her closet, though).  Most days I'm just in my work clothes or in running clothes, but on the rare occasion I have to put on different clothes I'm really enjoying discovering my wardrobe again.

Dennis and I don't really do anything special for Valentine's Day.  Last year, Jack and I kept Dennis company while he did some work on our front porch railings, then Dennis had to work an overnight shift, so Jack and I visited him at work and ordered a heart shaped pizza.  This year, Dennis was on an overnight shift again, so Jack and I made ourselves scarce around the house so he could sleep.  We met up with my brother-in-law and mother-in-law for lunch and then ran some errands, but that was no reason not to break out a snazzy outfit!  By the time we got home, Dennis was awake and he was able to take some outfit pics for me.  I don't know what was more awkward, posing in front of a tripod or trying not to look a fool in front of Dennis.

I'm still getting used to having short hair, so my hair is a little cray-cray, and I wish I knew where my box of jewelry was hiding in the house.  A nice necklace and some earrings would really have set off this outfit.  And makeup.  Maybe next time I do an outfit post, I'll put on some makeup.  I love makeup, but I never take the time to wear it; this seems like a good excuse reason.

I wore one of my all time favorite dresses with a cardigan and heels.  Okay, so I didn't wear my heels when I was out running my errands, but they look way better with this outfit than my old flats did.  Hot pink and red seemed fitting for Valentine's Day, and I've actually worn this combination several times in the past couple of years.  So this outfit isn't exactly a new combination, but it is one of my favorites.

My Outfit:
Cardigan - Mossimo at Target
Shoes - Steve Madden from TJ Maxx

  1. LOVE everything about this outfit!!! Why would you want to buy new things when the things you have already are so cute???

  2. Thank you! It's one of my favorite outfits. I have a little bit of a clothes problem. I LOVE clothes shopping and I HATE wearing the same things over and over again. My Junior and Senior years in highschool, I managed to not repeat a single outfit the entire two years (thanks to borrowing things from friends and getting creative with how I paired the items in my closet). I'm no longer that crazy (and in fact, once wore a favorite dress of mine 3 times in one week causing my husband to stage an intervention).
