Day in the Life, May 1, 2014

Here we are again, at the start of another month!  I would love to say something profound about the passage of time and how to live in the moment and not take things for granted.  But Jack has been sick, neither of us is sleeping well, and I'm just too tired to attempt to be profound.  It's the first of the month, and as you know, on the first of every month, I take one photo an hour to document my day.  I use Instagram, and (shocker) I've had my profile set on public for a month, and it's only a little weird to me.  I don't plan anything special for the day (at least not for photography's sake), I just go about my business and roughly once every 60 minutes I snap a photo of whatever it is that I'm doing.  You should really play along someday!!!

Yesterday wasn't the best of days.  Jack is still running a fever and was restless all night long.  We're not really early risers, but we slept MUCH later than usual, not getting our day started until 10am!  Dennis was off work, but we hardly saw each other because our to-do lists did not coincide at all.  And Jack was sick, so we were pretty much homebound (even though he wasn't really feverish during the day).  You win some, you lose some.

2 pm
finally doing something productive

3 pm
Dennis brought me a cookie

4 pm

5 pm
finally back to productivity

6 pm
done enough - still needs tweaking

7 pm
going out to dinner
financially irresponsible, but after the day we had, we needed a treat

8 pm
dinner at a food truck park near our house
we randomly stumbled upon the food trucks
we do not need to know they are this close to our house

9 pm
it just wouldn't be a day without Home Depot, now would it

I didn't get a 10 pm shot because I was putting Jack to bed.  Miracle of miracles, he fell asleep pretty easily and actually stayed asleep most of the night.  Good thing, too, because Dennis had to be up early for work the next morning, and I was planning on getting up early so I could get a few things done.

7 am
please go back to sleep
Mommy has work to do

I usually try to capture 24 full hours of a day, but I forgot to take an 8am and 9am picture because we were rushing to get out of the house to get somewhere on time.  Oh well.  It's been a crazy couple of weeks.

  1. I really love seeing your son growing up, the one with the socks is super cute!

With Instagram, I feel like it has made me appreciate more of the little things, because now I think to share them, when before I would just not really pay attention, if that makes sense. Though my husband thinks I'm too crazy with the food pics so i've been trying to calm down on that :)
