Weekend Snapshots 46

This edition of Weekend Snapshots is brought to you by an amazing sunset out at TRF.  I'm learning how to edit photos on my iPhone {afilliate} and this pic is the result of my tinkering with the editing.  Not much of note happened this weekend - just a typical couple of days at Faire.  I spent most of the weekend in pretty heavy mourning over the results of the election so I didn't leave our room much, hence not many pics this week.  Jack took a nap (shocker) and check out those lashes.  I swear boys get the best lashes.  It's also Jack's job to help Dennis light all the lanterns in our shop at sunset.  He looks forward to it all day long.  We did manage to go see the joust and Jack fed the joust horses some carrots after.  We bought 5 carrots - Jack fed 4 horses and himself, lol.

Don't forget to link up with me and Ariana at 3twentysix and have a great week!!!

Weekend Snapshots 45

The edition of Weekend Snapshots is brought to you by Dennis and Jack working the Gutenberg Press out at TRF.  Part of the reason I've fallen so behind on Snapshots is because all the weekends out at Faire tend to run together (and I don't take as many pictures as I could/should).  There's not too many noteworthy things from this weekend, so this post is mostly a photo dump - Jack got a new fireman's helmet that he wanted to wear all weekend (until we traded hats for a little while), it was our turn to cook dinner for everyone (see that giant pork loin?!?), and Jack got some good practice in running the Press (he's known how since he was one).  Oh, and there was a great pillow fight between Dennis and Jack.  It was a typical weekend out at faire!

I'm including the link-up that matches this weekend - look for the most current snapshots post (coming up) to add your link!  Thanks to Ariana at 3twentysix for partnering on the link-up!!!

Weekend Snapshots 44

I'm back and playing catch-up with Weekend Snapshots!  It's been a month - a month - since I've made the time to sit down and go through my weekend pictures.  Like I said in this post, October made me it's bitch and I've been trying to play catch-up on all things in November.  So be prepared for a spamming of Snapshots posts, lol.  This edition of Weekend Snapshots is brought to you by Jack at the Louisiana State Fair - finally tall enough to ride the kiddie rides!!!  Lucky he is!

This particular weekend, Jack and I visited my Mom, so be prepared for lots of pics - it was Halloween weekend and we celebrated birthdays with my family, plus I took my Grandma to dinner theatre.  To say we were busy is an understatement.  Check out what we were up to and don't forget to link-up with the most recent Snapshots edition with me and Ariana at 3twentysix!

Sunday Confessions 48

I confess:  I've eaten most of Jack's Halloween chocolate.  We don't let him have unlimited access to candy and have his bucket hidden, but I can't seem to keep my hands out of it.  I'm at least leaving all the fruity/gummy candy that he likes.....but for how long?  But for how long?

I confess:  I sometimes daydream about being a stand-up comic.  People tell me I'm funny (mostly when I'm at parties or gatherings and am telling a goofy story), but I'm pretty sure I couldn't replicate that - and being a comic entails so much writing and as much as I write here and am trying to find  my voice, I'm not sure I would be able to actually write in a funny voice.  But it's fun to think about.

I confess:  I skipped going to the gym all last week (and I was doing pretty well on that front) because I donated blood.  I didn't really need to skip, but I was looking for any excuse and that was as good as any.

Sunday Confessions 44, 45, 46, & 47

I confess:  I'm behind on EVERYTHING - life, business, blogging, housewifery - you name it, I'm behind.  Which I'm sure you can tell from my absence from the interwebs.

I confess:  I haven't even turned on my computer in over a week and I don't want to think about my email inbox.

I confess:  It's felt equal parts good and bad to not be writing.  The more I don't write, the easier it is for me to keep not writing.  I even missed this month's Houston Bloggers meeting because I'm just not feeling bloggy at all.

I confess:  I don't think it's a matter of needing more time - I think I just need to learn how to manage my time.  I'm so inefficient.

I confess:  I'm embarrassed and ashamed to be an American right now.

I confess:  I'm also incredibly terrified for the worst case scenarios we're facing as a nation (and if you don't think bad shit is going to happen in the coming years, just look at Germany's history - I swear I see it barreling towards us like a freight train).

I confess:  The older I get, the more politically aware and active I become, but I know I could do so much more.  I feel guilty that I didn't do more during this election.

I confess:  I now have the idea in my head that I should run for office so I can actually affect some change.

I confess:  But I wonder if that's just a pipe dream or something I could actually do - after all, I do have pink hair, piercings, and tattoos - but if a pumpkin can get elected, surely I could, too.

I confess:  I'm equally torn in two directions - I have the overwhelming desire to get the fuck out of this country, yet I feel like this is my country and I need to stay and fight for what I believe in.

I confess:  I'm also already scared to fight too loudly and bring attention to my family that could negatively affect our being alive.

I confess:  Damn, it feels good to write again.

November Intentions

It happens every year.  I think I'm going to make it through October and November, but then November gets here and between the Renaissance Festival, our wedding anniversary, Jack's birthday, and Halloween, I'm completely spent.  October made me it's bitch like it always does.  Here we are, halfway through November and I'm just finding my footing - better late than never!  So let's get to my November Intentions with Angela from The Clutter Box and Jazmine from Fairy Lights & Dreams.

October Highs and Lows

October Highs

October is one of my favorite months, even if it slaps me around a little every year.  It's always full of a lot of highs and this October didn't disappoint.  Jack turned 4 (I can't believe how big he is!!!), we celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary with an amazing dinner at Sullivan's Steakhouse (has it really been that long?!?), and of course, we had a blast at Halloween.  Jack and I also got to see my Mom three times this month (we were there at the very beginning of the month, she visited us for Jack's birthday, and then we were there again at the end of the month).

October Lows

General overwhelm and mismanagement of time.  I'm really great at making a to-do list, but I'm awful at following through.  I knew I was overextending what I could reasonably get done with everything else going on in October, but I still think I could've managed my time better and gotten more done.

October Results

First off, let's see how I did in October.  I set lots of goals for myself in October full well knowing how crazy busy we are and that I most likely wouldn't get through all of them.  Normally, I set a bunch of goals for myself, don't accomplish the majority of them and then feel awful about myself.  Not this month - I mean, I didn't get through all of my goals, but I don't hate myself this time around.

Personal Goals

  • Workout 3 times a week every week in October - close, but no cigar.  I managed to go a couple of times a week for most of the month, then the week of Jack's brithday, I just lost my steam and had other things to focus on.  But I made a decent effort and I feel good about making that effort.
  • Use my bullet journal daily - and use my daily habit tracker - meh, sorta.  I used my bullet journal, but completely ignored my daily habit tracker.  I think I just had too many patterns I was trying to change this month and tracking new things wasn't a priority
  • Dye my hair back to a fun color - YES!!!  And I'm loving life as a pink-head again!
  • Print anniversary family photo - YES!!!  But, I still need to post our annual Reyna Family Photo here!
  • Plan Jack's birthday party - YES!!!  And it was perfect!!!

Blog Goals

  • Post 3 times a week - hahahahahahah.  no.
  • Catch up with and post regularly as part of the #FallForSYBL Instagram challenge - nope, nope, nope.
  • Add 40 new Pinterest followers.  Not sure.  I didn't write down where I was at the begining of the month because I thought I could bring up the numbers in TailWind, but I'm not paying for the top tier service, so I wasn't able to go back and look up the numbers.
  • Figure out why that share button is randomly floating at the top of all my posts & fix it.  Still need to do that.
  • Fix my Amazon Associates account - AGAIN, FFS - YES!!!!  Now if only I could start earning some affiliate income, that would be great!

Business Goals

  • Get space ready to rent - not even close.  I need to figure out why I'm dragging my feet on this one.
  • Send at least one (preferable two) newsletters - nope.  Why am I self sabotaging?!?
  • Research and place a Facebook ad (or two).  Nope.  Get it together, Brogan.
  • Set up at least one massage partnership for reciprocal referrals.  Nope.
  • Brainstorm holiday specials - kinda?  Didn't figure out any specials, but I did think about it.

Home Goals

  • Clean Jack's room and organize his toys - halfway there.  I got his room cleaned out, but I need to organize his toys.
  • Clean area of extra bedroom and set up Jack's classroom.  Nope.  I'll need Den's help on this one, so we need to coordinate our schedules.
  • Do my weekly Power Hour every week.  Nope.
  • Stay on top of the dishes and laundry.  Sorta.  The dishes piled up a couple of times, but for the most part, I kept the sink from overflowing - YAY!!!
  • Find the knobs for the kitchen cabinets and install - nope.  I'm pretty sure these are in the pile of stuff I need to clean out of the extra bedroom where I want to set up Jack's classroom, so once Den and I work together to clean that spot, I expect to find the knobs

November Goals

Seeing as how we're already halfway through this month, I'm going to try to keep my goals more realistic this month.  There are still two weekends of the renaissance festival and Thanksgiving, so I want to try to not overwhelm myself.  And whatever I don't get done, I'll try to take care of in December (hahahahaha, like I ever manage to get stuff done in December)

Personal Goals

  • Workout 2-3 times a week
  • Come up with a rough draft of a daily routine (to keep me focused and hopefully better able to get my to-do list stuff done)
  • Get my bangs trimmed

Blog Goals

  • Catch up with my Weekend Snapshots and Sunday Confessions
  • Post my November Intentions (see what I did there?!?)
  • Figure out that weird floating share thingy - srsly

Business Goals

  • Send out a newsletter - and Black Friday Deal
  • Tweak Groupon offer
  • Get space ready to rent

Home Goals

  • Keep Jack's room clean and organize/put away his toys
  • Find those knobs
  • Clean out that school corner
This list should keep me more than busy for the remaining days in November.  I think I'll be able to make a decent dent in the list if I really buckle down and try.  I definitely wouldn't have gotten as much done in October if I hadn't been part of this Blogger Collaboration.  Make sure to check out everyone participating this month and if you want to join in in December, just contact Angela or Jazmine!  Here's to the rest of November!!!
